Shed the light
After an email from Craftlovers, I received this in the mail this week.
Craftlovers is produced by Express Publications who produce a number of craft and sewing magazines, and their newsletters often contain some interesting bits and pieces. I cannot believe I have won such a fabulous prize, Amazing!!! It will help my almost 50 year old eyes considerably.
Last weekend we had our first Creative Fibre Group meeting of the year. This year we have asked each of our regular members to prepare an activity to demonstrate and then we all try it out. Our February meeting was led by the remarkable Carmel who showed us how she embellishes swing tags. When I get some photos from the group I will post on our group page, but here are some of mine.
These tags were collected over the xmas and summer sale period from various gifts and purchases (clothes etc). Some were thin paper and others were quite thick card in various shapes and sizes. Carmel uses hers as gift tags but I could see them attached to or swinging from fibre books or other bits of fibre art such as Maggie’s ‘Killed catalogues’. They were simply painted with ink and sprinkled with salt.
These ones were covered with a thick smear of modelling paste, had texture added and then were painted once dry. Left to right: plastic fork for wavy pattern, painted with opulence inks, pearl ex powder added, treasure gold; fly swat impression, opulence inks/interference, treasure gold; meat tenderiser, inks, powder and treasure gold.
I am still editing my thesis so won’t be able to do much for the next two weeks.
Cheers
Jo
